Another UFO done!!

Last year, Jen (one of our quilt sisters) gave me a wonderful birthday present....

She and Grey had both done this blessings wall hanging and I kept saying how much I loved it, but just hadn't gotten around to starting it. Jen cut out and fused on ALL the pieces.... and guess what??? That's the part I DON'T LIKE. Now that's a perfect present for me :)

Here's a photo of the one Grey did - rather than quilting it, she put it over an old picture frame and hung it from an old board. Beautiful :)

Hey-It's still February isn't it???

This is the Valentine wall hanging I did a couple of years ago.

It is an enlarged version of Cotton Way's

Table Topper of the Month for February.

My stairway needed something to hang there, and hanging a rod was out of the question lest someone impale himself upon descending the stairs too carelessly. So I just tied it up to the posts, using rings that are sewed to the back of the quilt, about an inch down from the top.

i love fabric.

It's addiction... but hey, I figure it's better than drugs.

I originally had this built to separate a large room
for two kids with cubbies for books/toys.
I love it when kids move out!
Then there's more room for my fabric.

They called it a towel rack.
I call it a quilt rack!

OK.... I don't have a finished project to show. I am a loser.

Life has gotten in the way of quilting. (and yes, that makes me grumpy:) But here is a display idea for everyone:

Put up your wallhanging (larger sizes won't work with this) using straight pins in the top corners. It takes some effort, but the pins WILL go into drywall. Then put a nail above the wallhanging on each corner. For the decorative look, I purchased 2 unfinished rosettes from Home Depot and painted them black. Hot glue a large paper clip to the back and this hangs on the nail.

I designed this quilt last year - Grey did the heart applique.

"strings" are small ric rac

The background is a variety of pastel pink/cream

5 blocks across by 7 down (8.5 x 8.5)

Each block is four 2.5" x 8.5" strips

The blocks alternate horizontal and vertical

One last picture of Christmas quilts! Last spring my quilt sisters and I went to Dallas for a (very fun!) girl trip. We stopped by Ikea and ALL bought these towel racks. They are very cheap and come in two sizes.

This is in my living room and I trade out quilts during the year. A great, inexpensive way to display your treasures.

The top quilt is the rag quilt Julie blogged about a few days ago. The bottom one is a Sandy Gervais panel and pieced quilt.

Duct tape and Snowmen

This is the door to my laundry room and garage, which is usually left open. But when I'm having a party I don't want my messiness to show (I spent all my time cleaning the rest of the house!)

Right before a big party last Christmas I closed this door and, of course, thought "This needs a quilt!" I wanted to show a quilt without marking the door...

TaDa! Duct Tape!

I folded over four pieces of duct tape - one for each corner. The best part is this... it stood the test of time! I didn't take it off until October of this year. No paint came off the door and there was no tape residue on the door. And the quilt back didn't seem any worse for the wear.

This wall hanging is one of the first quilts I did four years ago... I know it was on the cover of a magazine, but can't remember which one. If any one knows where this pattern can be found, let us know!

Here is a little peek into my craft room. This is another fun way to display a quilt. Yes, it's a REAL piece of fence. Grey and I painted it and hammered it into the wall (my husband went back later for reinforcements.) You can also see my scrap baskets and part of my cutting table.

I love this little wall-hanging. It's super easy (I used a charm packet for the edges). Bliss made one too. If you're still looking for a great last minute Christmas idea, go ahead and copy.

Quilts & Ladders

I love decorating with quilts.... Thanks to Grey for all her fabulous ideas!! Here are two ways to decorate with an old ladder. I have been looking for old ladders at garage sales, without any luck. But I did find a website to buy rustic ladders.

This ladder is placed on three large nails and has other decorating touches inside each square.

This ladder is just leaning against the wall with three quilts wrapped over the rungs.
