Babies everywhere....

I have 11 quilts to make before June 16.... Luckily, 5 of them are baby quilts and go together pretty quickly. I had scraps left from a pink/brown bundle I bought 2 years ago and paired with a solid pink for these three quilt tops. I'm a little tired of pink and brown, so I'll work on something else before I quilt them. Plus, the little ones are still cookin' in the oven :)

Hey-It's still February isn't it???

This is the Valentine wall hanging I did a couple of years ago.
It is an enlarged version of Cotton Way's
Table Topper of the Month for February.

My stairway needed something to hang there, and hanging a rod was out of the question lest someone impale himself upon descending the stairs too carelessly. So I just tied it up to the posts, using rings that are sewed to the back of the quilt, about an inch down from the top.

well loved quilts.

here are two of my FAVORITE baby quilts.
they were gifts from two of my FAVORITE friends.
the top quilt is all HAND QUILTED...
there are little daisies and a ribbon around the border.
The second quilt is all minky-backed (with NO batting)...
it's so soft and big and we LOVE it.

God Bless America

Last year I did a quilt that incorporated all the words to
God Bless America
This was also during my "I think I want to be a quilt designer" phase. Susan took this picture and wrote down measurements... maybe if we ask her nice, she'll post the details for everyone :)

It's hard to tell from this picture (and I would do it bigger next time) but the three white stripes of the flag have the words "Through the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans, white with foam."

And yes, those are my fuzzy slippers.

Stack and whack Simplicity!

I bought a 10" layer cake last year from the simplicity line of fabric and decided to do a stack and whack. Well.... being the mistake queen... I didn't "shuffle the fabric before I whacked and sewed the first 10 blocks. Resulting in all pink blocks.

Hey- perfect size for a baby quilt!

The remaining blocks were mixed up so there was a variety of colors in each block, though not much pink (since I had used it all in my mistake) so I sashed it in pink.

I must really love my mother!

I'm already working on two other big projects for my mom.
What can I say.... I love her!
She called the other day to say that her Christmas wallhanging
was still up and the only other thing she has from me
is a 4th of July wallhanging. What's a quilt girl to do?
So.... I pulled out Cool Girls Quilt and started cutting out
Crazy For You. Now remember - I make mistakes and on
this one it was BIG. I didn't read that I was supposed to ENLARGE
the circle 125%. That's right, the circles are supposed to be
LARGER than the flowers. But I modified and just used 6 and
I actually like it. I hope she does too!

some easy baby quilts.

here are some easy ideas for baby blankets.
these are all quilts that we made last year.
i'm still dealing with sick kids.
but, i'm dreaming of quilting...

he was a beautiful butterfly
Pieced together back......
I LOVE this quilt!

Sweet Hearts

This was a pattern I found in the March 2007 issue of Quick Quilts magazine. I completed the top in 2007 (using fabrics that had hearts in them) and finally had Cathy quilt it in 2009. I just finished binding it and now have it up in time for Valentine's Day. Yeah!

I had left-over scraps from another heart quilt (that still needs to be quilted), so I used them in making the hearts.

i love fabric 2.

here are some pics from my craft room... i had fun exploring antique shops in the area to find fun ways to display my stuff. the two wooden crates stacked on top of each other work great for my flat folds... i have a metal egg basket that holds all my homespun plaids... big painted baskets hold my scraps (can you see my bolt of batting hiding behind?)... i found an old wooden coke box to display the collection of thread that i inherited when my grandma passed away (you'd be surprised how much i use that old thread)... and, i use knitting needles to hold my ribbon. that's all... we have sick kiddos here at my house... i miss my sewing machine, but she understands i'll be back someday.
