Porcelain Around the World

I picked up this free pattern at Wal-Mart in 2007 and then purchased the fabric, cut it out some time in the next couple of years, and finally got around to stitching it in 2010. It is a very big quilt: 92 x 92. Rather than cut each 5" strip into 5" squares as the pattern suggests, I just sewed the strips together and then cut across the strips for the rows--much simpler than working with individual squares. Yes, another unfinished project that I crossed off my (mental) list last year.

I have downloaded the pdf and will be using my own selection of fabrics. I don't want to cut each square either, can you explain in detail what you meant by sewing the strips. Thanks
